Breene Cantwell, General Manager/Director of Golf
Breene Cantwell turned professional in 1984.  Since then he has been affiliated with Golf Crest Country Club and Braeburn Country Club.  He has been a Head Golf Professional for the past 18 year’s.  He has played several professional tours including outside the United States.  Some of his professional highlights are winning the Camco Invitational in Belfast Ireland and finishing ninth in the Panama Open. Currently teaches players of all levels and has taught P.G.A. Tour Players Eric Bogar, Jamie Gomez, Richard Swift, Ted Tryba, Anders Hansen and John Paul Cain.

 James Canter, Executive Chef

Executive Chef James Canter was classically trained in the Tampa Bay area, and went on to broaden his culinary perspective on the national circuit culminating in twenty plus years of professional experience and extensive knowledge in global cuisine.  James recently relocated from the San Francisco and the Tampa Bay area's where he worked with the local fishermen, farmers, and ranchers to provide local sustaniable products for his clientele at many diverse venue's from coast to coast.  Now James' efforts are to provide the City of Victoria with the same sensible cuisine at the Victoria Country Club where he will be manning the helm to showcase his "country club cuisine, cuisine with a conscience".  James has also been the Executive Chef for the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts as well as being the Chef owner of San Francisco's exclusive organic South American Pena.  Some of Chef Canter's other accolades include two and half stars "Best Places of Northern California", 2008 Best New Restaurant Tampa Bay area, Gold Medal-Sous Chef ACF hot foods competition, most sophisticated lunches, St. Petersburg Times, and he has had the honor of leading up the culinary team for Vice President Dick Cheney (Big Horn River Resort).  Chef Canter has also been bestowed the honor of 2nd and 3rd place "RGV Iron Chef" and 1st place international "Iron Chef" paella and 1st place "King of Paella", "Best in Show" at Paella Lovers United asf well as being awarded "Top 100 Texas restaurants, Texas Monthly Magazine".  Chef Canter has come to the Victoria to pursue and achieve his passion of redefining "Country Club Cuisine" and providing assistance to the local Victoria Farmers Market.

Beverly Evans, Food & Beverage Director

Beverly has been a part of the Victoria Country Club team since September 2002.  She is a member of the National Association of Catering Executives.   Beverly moved from Maine where she was the general manager of Governor’s Restaurant and Bakery for 15 years.  Her specialties at the Country Club include wedding and special event planning along with private parties. Beverly resides in Goliad, Texas and in her free time enjoys traveling to visit family.

Debbie Garcia, Banquet Manager 

Debbie Garcia has been employed with the Club since 1982, and is a Victoria native. Debbie's extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry and her dedication to our Members and guests has made her a great addition to the management team.

Janice Siegel, Membership

Janice has been a part of the Victoria Country Club management team since 2007.  She has over 15 years experience as an Executive Administrative Assistant and over 6 years experience in Membership recruitment at the Victoria Country Club.  Janice is known by our membership for her welcoming smile and warm personality.  If you have any questions regarding your current membership or in becoming a part of our Victoria Country Club family, you can contact Janice at 


Joe Mitchell, Head Golf Professional

Joe Mitchell played two year’s of College golf at the University of Texas at Pan-American in Edinburg, TX. He received his Associates degree of Arts & Science from Victoria College in 1998. Turned Professional in 1999 and began to work as an Assistant Golf Professional at Victoria Country Club. Played two year’s on the Adam’s Tour. His best finish was an eighth place in Jackson, MS. He played in the group with the eventual winner and current P.G.A. Tour player, Ryan Palmer. Joe has had 4 top ten finishes in South Texas P.G.A. individual events. He qualified for the National Assistants Golf Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fl. in 2008 with a second place finish in the qualifier in San Antonio, TX.

Andy Andress, Golf Course Superintendent

Andy Andress has been our course superintendent since 1990. Andy received his Bachelor of Science from Southwest Texas State University in 1977.  After graduating from College Andy began working at the Columbus Golf Club. Andy has done a tremendous job with improving our course and grounds.  His philisophy has been to keep the greens fast and firm.

Mike Collins, Director of Tennis, USPTA

Mike Collins has been Director of Tennis at the Victoria Country Club for over 25 years. He has been a Member of USPTA since 1979. Mike has been influential in starting the Victoria Country Club Tennis Association, Ladies and Men's Leagues, and different tournaments throughout the year. Mike is also available for private or group lessons.


 Philip Perez, Assistant Tennis Pro, USPTA

Philip Perez has been a member of the Victoria Country Club team since April 2011.  He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and has been a member of USPTA since 1998. Philip currently is a member of the 2013-2014 USTA Texas Collegiate Committee.  Philip specializes in organizing and overseeing the Junior Tennis Program at the Victoria Country Club.  Among many of his accomplishments include;  2003 National Men's ranking #23, 1999 National Open Mixed Doubles Team Champion, 1998 National 10.0 Mixed Doubles Team Champion, 1998 #5 Men's 30's Singles ranking, 1998 #1 Men's 30's Doubles ranking, 1997 #7 Men's Open Singles Ranking and Coached the 1996 6.0 National Mixed Doubles Team Finalists.  Contact Philip at to schedule your next group or private Tennis lesson.
